AFTER falling short of a return to action last week, Geelong is working through the best course of action with star midfielder Patrick Dangerfield.
Ongoing tightness in his calf post-training kept the 32-year-old out of the Cats’ thrilling three-point win over Richmond.
Dangerfield hasn’t played since Round 10 after battling a calf issue through the first half of the season.
“The decision was made last week for Patrick to continue an additional period of training as the last signs of tightness clear,” the club’s head of medical and conditioning services Harry Taylor said.
“He has put in some big sessions with the group, and the medical and conditioning team will continue to work through the best plan for Patrick this week.”
In other injury news, livewire Gary Rohan is expected to be available after being a late withdrawal from the victory over the Tigers due to illness.
Midfielder Brandan Parfitt and ruck Jonathon Ceglar are expected to return to action “in the not-too-distant future” as they recover from a broken hand and broken foot, respectively.
And Sam Simpson’s return from a concussion suffered pre-season appears to be progressing.
“Sam has been training well over the past fortnight and has shown great persistence and resilience as he works through (a) post-concussion program,” Taylor said.
“We hope to see Sam return to playing in the medium term.”
