PATRICK Dangerfield is free to play in Geelong’s Easter Monday clash with Hawthorn after being offered a fine for striking GWS Giants tagger Matt de Boer during the second quarter of the Cats’ loss at GMHBA Stadium.
The incident was assesed by Match Review Officer Michael Christian as intentional conduct with low impact and body contact resulting in a $2000 fine with an early guilty plea.
A second incident involving Dangerfield and de Boer was looked at but contact was deemed to be minimal and the force insufficient for a charge to be laid.
The Match Review Officer said the 2016 Brownlow medallist swung his arm back to break the hold of the Giant, who was bent over from the previous strike.
Dangerfield’s teammates Esava Ratugolea and Joel Selwood have also been offered fines.
Ratugolea can accept a $2000 fine for rough conduct on Giants ruckman Shane Mumford, while Selwood will be $1000 lighter in the pocket for making careless contact with umpire Chris Donlon.
