JORDAN Ivey has become the latest departure from Geelong’s AFLW squad after being traded to Melbourne in a deal that has landed the Cats two players, including a club best-and-fairest winner.
Shelley Scott, who won Melbourne’s best-and-fairest in 2020, and Jackie Parry join a long list of former Demons to pull on the Hoops, including current Cat Chantel Emonson.
Melbourne has also received Geelong’s third-round AFLW Draft pick (51) as part of the deal.
Ivey, who played two games for Carlton before joining Geelong’s VFLW program, made 31 AFLW appearances for the Cats.
She was vice-captain of the club under Meg McDonald in 2021.
“Jordan has been a wonderful player since the inception of our women’s program in 2017 and has made a significant contribution on and off the field,” AFLW boss Brett Johnson said.
“We wish her well in this next phase of her journey.”
Scott was a star netballer with Colac, winning the Geelong League best-and-fairest in 2011, before being taken by Melbourne in the inaugural AFLW Draft in 2016.
She played 49 matches for the Demons while, for the most part, living and working on a dairy farm at Gerangamete in the Otways.
The 34-year-old was co-captain of Melbourne in 2019.
25-year-old Parry has played 22 games and six goals since being drafted from Canberra in 2019.
“We’re excited to boost our attack with the addition of Shelley and Jacqueline,” Johnson said.
“They bring a wealth of experience and leadership and will assist us as we look to take our attacking game to a new level in season seven.”
Ivey is the fourth departure from Geelong, following the retirement of Dani Higgins, Sophie van de Heuvel heading to expansion club Essendon, and the trade of Stephanie Williams to Richmond.
