Geelong has shown its faith in young forward Jacob Molier by signing him to a one-year contract extension.

The 19-year-old, who was a rare shining light in Geelong’s VFL grand final loss to Box Hill, was drafted by the Cats with pick 52 in the 2024 National Draft.

Injuries have limited Molier to just 16 VFL appearances in his first two years at GMHBA Stadium.

“Jacob continued to develop his game throughout the year and worked hard to build consistency following his return in the second half of the VFL season,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.

“He’s an exciting young player, and we’re pleased to retain Jacob for 2027.”

The re-signing of Molier leaves only midfielder duo Jack Bowes and Mitch Knevitt in limbo for 2027.

Bowes is expected to find a new home next year, with several clubs reported by multiple media outlets to be interested in the former Gold Coast Sun.
