Geelong has delisted three players ahead of this week’s AFLW Trade Period, with Mia Skinner, Ingrid Houtsma, and Sammy Gooden told their services are no longer required at GMHBA Stadium.

Skinner, who had two stints on the Cats’ list, was the only one of the trio to play at the highest level.

She made five appearances in the Hoops in Season 7.

Houtsma, who, like Skinner, was a Geelong Falcons graduate, joined Geelong ahead of Season 7 as part of a trade with Richmond for Stephanie Williams.

Gooden, who traded a netball for a Sherrin ahead of Season 7, spent the last two seasons on the inactive list after becoming pregnant and giving birth to her first child.

“Mia has been involved with our AFLW program for four seasons and has been a strong teammate and has shown great resilience to fight her way back to play at AFLW level,” Geelong’s assistant footy boss Brett Johnson said.

“Ingrid has contributed a lot to our program since crossing from Richmond ahead of Season 7 and leaves our Club as someone who has grown significantly as a player and a person.

“Although we didn’t see Sammy feature much on-field, she has always remained connected with the group while she worked through her return to play program after giving birth to her daughter Billie.”

With the retirement of Renee Garing and the already-announced signing of father-daughter selection Bryde O’Rourke, Geelong will take two picks to the draft on December 18.
