Geelong’s renowned flexibility is set to be tested with defender Sam De Koning facing a stint on the sidelines.
Scans have revealed the bump to the shoulder he received during the second quarter of the 95-point hammering of Essendon at the MCG is an AC joint injury.
The Cats have said in a statement that the 24-year-old will “consult with a surgeon this week to discuss his options”.
De Koning met shoulder-to-shoulder with Bomber Will Setterfield and was forced from the field.
He returned in the third quarter with his shoulder strapped but was then subbed out of the contest.
Mark Blicavs, who had played much of the first half up the ground, went into defence as cover and is likely to spend more time there in De Koning’s absence.
