The City of Greater Geelong is pressing ahead with plans for a $10 millon upgrade of South Geelong’s John Landy Athletics Field.
Councillors voted on Tuesday night to prioritise $5 million in its next budget towards a pavilion upgrade.
The city will apply for that amount from the Victorian government’s Commonwealth Games Fund.

The fund was established after Labor announced last year it would not be holding the 2026 Games, blaming cost blowouts.
A report to council says the funding can be used for projects or infrastructure that deliver legacy outcomes for the wider community.
