Revellers can expect to see more police across Geelong and the Surf Coast for New Year’s Eve.
Local officers will be taking part in a statewide operation to ensure there are safe celebrations.
Senior Sergeant Adrian Bickley from Torquay Police Station said there would be more resources across the region on Sunday night.
“We ask for people just to be responsible in regard to the way that they act, especially on the roads,” Sr Sgt Bickley said.
“And especially when using alcohol.”
Transit police and Protective Services Officers will also be at train stations in Geelong to make sure revellers get to and from their destinations safely.
Anti-social behaviour will also be targeted across the region.
Sr Sgt Bickley said there would be police on roads to ensure people are not drink or drug driving.
