GEELONG CEO Brian Cook is keen to know Tim Kelly’s plans for 2020 before the end of this season.

The second-year midfielder is out-of-contract and, as he did at the end of 2018, is likely to ask the Cats again to be allowed to return to Perth to continue his career for family reasons.

Kelly, who has played every game for Geelong since debuting in Round 1 last year, and partner Caitlin Miller have three children under the age of four, including a son who was diagnosed with autism last year.

“We’re not waiting until the end of the year because we’d love a decision before then,” Cook told K rock Football.

“We’re in constant dialogue; we’re in weekly dialogue with his manager, and we’re very determined to give it our best shot to keep him. Whether that’s good enough, who knows.

“We’ll know sometime during the year. Hopefully not at the end of the year. We’d like to do this (re-sign Kelly) before then.”
