Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield has escaped with a fine for a high bump on St Kilda’s Ryan Byrnes in Saturday night’s shock loss at Marvel Stadium.
The Match Review Officer cited the 34-year-old for the third-quarter incident, which was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, drawing a $6250 fine for a second offence.
An early guilty plea reduces the sanction to $3750.
The outcome is a sigh of relief for Geelong, which is set to be without Dangerfield’s deputy Tom Stewart against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.
Stewart suffered a knee injury during the opening term before being subbed out in the second quarter.
Saints duo Jack Higgins and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera have both attracted fines.
Higgins, who finished with a game-high four goals, was cited for rough conduct on young Cat Connor O’Sullivan.
An early guilty plea reduces the sanction to $2000.
Wanganeen-Milera has been offered a $1000 fine for making careless contact with an umpire.
