Geelong star Gryan Miers has reportedly attracted interest from West Coast.
AFL Trade Radio says the Eagles have approached Geelong about the availability of the 27-year-old, who is contracted until the end of 2028 after signing a two-year extension in May last year.
West Coast’s interest became public after Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie appeared on Trade Radio earlier today.
“I’ve heard some speculation on him … clubs over the last couple of years have raised his (name) amongst other names,” Mackie said
“But no … other players have been raised this year. I think it’s clear the Saints were asking about Lawson Humphries.
“But no, no, from our end, it’s been pretty quiet from that point of view.”
Miers, who played most of the season with a tear to his ACL, has played 172 matches since debuting in the opening round of 2019.
He made 17 AFL appearances this year but kicked only six goals, three of which came in the Round 18 win over St Kilda.
Mackie also confirmed out-of-contract midfielder Jack Bowes was exploring his options.
Bowes, who joined Geelong from Gold Coast ahead of the 2023 season, played just nine AFL matches this year.
North Melbourne and Essendon are reported to have shown an interest in the 28-year-old.
“We’ve had pretty open dialogue with him,” Macke said.
“He’s a great guy. When guys are out of the team, we feel that we do need to have a conversation with them if they can better their career, then that’s something we’d always like to do as a footy club.
“Now the next bit is, can you always follow through on it? Maybe not, but you know, if it is right for Jack and us, then we’d be okay with it.”
Meanwhile, the move of GWS Giants captain Toby Green to GMHBA Stadium is expected to be formalised on the first day of the AFL trade period tomorrow.
