Geelong will get an early taste of where it sits in the AFLW pecking order, facing powerhouse duo North Melbourne and Adelaide in the opening two rounds of the 2025 season.

The Cats, who finished last year in 10th position with a 4-6-1 record, will host the reigning premier Kangaroos in a Saturday afternoon clash at GMHBA Stadium.

That will be followed by a trip across the border to take on the Crows, who were beaten in a preliminary final by the Brisbane Lions.

Geelong will return home to take on Sydney before a three-week away stint in September, including a second trip to South Australia for a meeting with Port Adelaide.

That will be followed by three consecutive home games, starting with the growing tradition of a Thursday night match in AFL grand final week, with Hawthorn again the opponent.

A trip to Perth to play West Coast, a drive to Ballarat for a meeting with the Western Bulldogs, and a home meeting with Melbourne round out the Cats’ season.

“We are pleased with the release of our AFLW fixture, and the opportunity to host six games at GMHBA Stadium for the first time, starting with the reigning premiers in Round 1,” Geelong’s chief operating officer Marcus King said.

“From a performance and timeslot perspective, we play nine day or afternoon games, which is something that appeals to our fans, especially in Geelong, while we have the opportunity to play three games in a row at GMHBA Stadium in round seven, eight and nine.”

“We feel we have a great mix of opponents visiting Geelong, including four Melbourne-based teams, and along with the remaining men’s fixture, our members and fans have the opportunity to attend 12 more games at GMHBA Stadium between now and the conclusion of the 2025 AFLW season.

“The Thursday night timeslot in Grand Final week is a fixture that we look forward to every year, and to welcome the Hawks again down the highway to kick-off a massive weekend of footy will be exciting.”

The fixture is the first in competition history to feature 12 rounds.

Geelong doesn’t play Brisbane, Collingwood, Fremantle, Gold Coast or St Kilda.
