GEELONG midfielder Scott Selwood will undergo scans on the weekend after appearing to injure his hamstring during a VFL practice match on Friday night.

The veteran Cat, who missed both JLT Series matches with hamstring tightness, pulled up quickly midway through the third quarter of the clash with Werribee at Avalon Airport Oval and came straight from the field.

The 28-year-old had been a solid contributor with 11 possessions until that point as he attempted to press his claims for a spot in the Geelong team for next Friday’s AFL Round 1 clash with Collingwood.

Selwood, who is in his fourth season with the Cats, had enjoyed a relatively uninterrupted pre-season until being sidelined during February.

More to come.
