Geelong has strengthened its forward line for Sunday’s VFL Grand Final, with AFL-listed Jay Polkinghorne and local star Charley Green recalled after an impressive club performance.
Polkinghorne made his AFL debut in Round 18 against St Kilda, and kicked 14 goals in his eight appearances.
In six VFL matches, he kicked 20 goals, including 16 in five games after returning from a foot injury.
Green played four matches for the Cats during May, kicking seven goals.
A foot injury sidelined Green until Round 20 of the Bellarine league season. He kicked nine goals in three finals for Geelong Amateur, including five in last week’s preliminary final loss to Queenscliff.
Polkinghorne and Green replace veteran Cat Rhys Stanley (pectoral injury) and the omitted Kobe George, who will line up for Bell Park in tomorrow’s Geelong league preliminary final.
