PREMIERSHIP Cat and two-time Carji Greeves Medallist Mark Blicavs and exciting youngster Mitch Knevitt will remain at Kardinia Park, with the pair agreeing to contract extensions with the Club.
The two tall utility’s have signed two-year deal to stay with Geelong until at least the end of the 2025 AFL season.
Blicavs is coming off arguably a career-best season, proving a vitle player in the Cats premiership success as well as receiving his first All Australian blazer, named on the interchange bench.
More recently the 32-year-old has found some good form as Geelong bounced back from a tough start to the 2023 campaign, particulalry stepping up in the ruck with key talls Rhys Stanley and Jon Ceglar spending time on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Knevitt has worked his way into the senior side as of late, being used as the tactical sub in Round 6 against the Swans, before collecting 15 disposals at the MCG against Essendon in Round 7.
A running midfielder who won the best and fairest for the Geelong Falcons in his draft year, Knevitt is a local product from Grovedale who has excellent speed and endurance.
“Mark continues to be a really important player for us. He has shown a high level of consistency over his career and has worked extremely hard to become the player he is, and his high training standards see him continue to improve each season,” Head of List Management Andrew Mackie said.
“While Mark plays a critical on-field role, he is also a leader off it, he is a popular member of the team and has great relationships across the playing squad,” he said.
“At only 20 years old we are excited to see what Mitch can achieve at our Club.
“Mitch has a great work ethic, and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop over the next two seasons.”
