MILLIE Brown is inching closer to becoming the first daughter of a former Cat to pull on the Hoops at AFLW level after being named in Geelong’s practice match squad for Saturday’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Brown, who was selected with the Cats’ first pick (No.11) in last year’s draft, is among four new faces chosen for the Whitten Oval clash.

The 18-year-old is the daughter of Paul, who played 84 games and kicked 66 goals between 1990-98.

Nicole Garner, Amy McDonald and Madi Maguire are also in the 24-strong squad.

However, fellow off-season additions Gemma Wright and Mia Skinner are among the six players not selected.

Also missing the match are captain Mel Hickey, defender Anna Teague, and young guns Olivia Purcell and Nina Morrison.

Morrison is in the late stages of her recovery from a serious knee injury suffered just under 12 months ago.

Geelong will be allowed to name 21 players for its opening round clash with Fremantle on February 9.
