There is a question mark over the fitness of Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn ahead of Friday night’s meeting with the Crows in Adelaide.

The former GWS Giant was forced from the field early in the first quarter of the Round 1 win over St Kilda with a foot problem before returning to the field in the second quarter.

He finished with 20 disposals, of which twelve came in the second term.

“Tanner had a low-level generalised mid-foot sprain in the first quarter and was able to play the game out and performed really well,” Cats’ assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.

“Tanner will be assessed this week. We’ll see how he goes at training, and he will be a test this week to play against the Crows.”

Former Gold Coast Sun Jack Bowes has already been ruled out of the meeting with the Crows with a calf issue that kept him out of the victory over the Saints.

“Jack has been hampered by a really heavy lower-leg contusion (corky) that he got in training,” Johnson said.

“We just want to make sure with Jack that we just re-establish his training loads over the course of this week, and we expect him to be available for selection for Round 3.”

Veteran duo Cam Guthrie (quad) and Gary Rohan (back) are a week closer to a return, with Guthrie listed as 5-7 weeks and Rohan 3-5 weeks.

Draftees George Stevens and Mitch Edwards and Category B rookie Joe Furphy face stints on the sidelines.

Stevens will miss 2-3 weeks with sprains to his ankle and knee, Edwards faces at least another six weeks on the sidelines with a back issue, and Furphy is also six weeks away from a return from an ankle injury that disrupted his pre-season.
