GEELONG has had its planned Round 2 trip to Brisbane scrapped as the AFLW braces for the potential impact of COVID-19 restrictions.

The Cats were due to play the Lions at Hickey Park on Sunday. Instead, they will play Collingwood – who they were scheduled to play at GMHBA Stadium on February 27 – at Victoria Park on Saturday at 3:10pm.

The Magpies were set to play Gold Coast, with the Suns now taking on Brisbane.

“While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community
remains the priority and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner anchored in the advice of
respective governments, public health officials and medical experts,” AFL Head of Women’s football Nicole Livingstone said.

“We will continue to remain as adaptable as possible as the season progresses in a constantly changing environment
and we will listen to and work closely with each stakeholder to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone in the
game.”

Other fixtures changes for Round 2 include the GWS Giants hosting Adelaide at Blacktown behind closed doors.

The Crows have travelled to Sydney where the NSW Government has allowed them to complete their isolation period and play the Giants on Sunday.

Officials are waiting for updates from the WA Government on whether Fremantle and West Coast can play each other in Perth.
