The non-selection of young Geelong ruck Toby Conway for tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) VFL clash with Box Hill has heightened speculation he will be running out for his second AFL game on Easter Monday.
The 206cm 20-year-old stood out in the Cats’ opening-round VFL loss to Werribee, winning 37 hitouts and 17 disposals in an entertaining battle with his brother Sam.
Channel Seven’s Mitch Cleary has taken to social media to report some doubt over Rhys Stanley taking his place against the Hawks.

Conway, who joined Geelong via the 2021 National Draft from local club St Mary’s, debuted in the final round of the 2023 season against the Western Bulldogs, registering 24 hitouts and six disposals.
He is one of two outs from the team that lost to last year’s grand finalists, with former AFL rookie Osca Riccardi also missing from the GMHBA Stadium clash.
They’ve been replaced by AFL draftee George Stevens and exciting prospect Ajang Kuol mun from Geelong and District Football Netball League club Anakie.
Meanwhile, Geelong’s VFLW team has made six changes for its meeting with Box Hill.
Jamilla Cranny, Bridget Aughton, Zoe Cowan, Zoe Larkins, Olivia Stewart, Jane McMeel have also been named for the clash, which follows the VFL match.
Injury has sidelined AFLW-listed Gabbi Featherston as well as Liv Cicolini, Lily Jordan and Abby Favell.
Abbey McDonald is unavailable, while Kelsea Gray has been omitted.
