President’s plan to keep Cook

BRIAN Cook’s influence on the Geelong Football Club won’t come to an end when he steps down as CEO if the club’s new president has his way.

Craig Drummond has revealed plans for Cook, who has been in the role and is out-of-contract at the end of this year, to step into another position when he no longer wants the top job.

“The objective is to keep Brian Cook in a paid role going forward,” Drummond told K rock Football.

“But, the objective is also to look internally and externally for the next CEO. So, we will do that at some stage through ’21.

“But, to be very clear, Brian Cook – and I think Brian’s pretty aligned with this – is to keep Brian in a meaningful, paid role around the club going forward.

“Because he’s someone that has left, and is leaving, a huge impact on our footy club, and I think still has got a lot to offer.”
