GEELONG has named a squad featuring a mix of experience and youth for Saturday’s Marsh Community Series match-up with Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium.

The Cats have included their first pick in last year’s National Draft Cooper Stephens, rookie selection Brad Close, 2018 draftees Ben Jarvis and Jacob Kennerley, and former Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins.

Reigning Carji Greeves medallist Patrick Dangerfield is among six top-10 finishers in last year’s best-and-fairest that will take on the Suns, joining Tom Stewart, Tom Hawkins, Mark Blicavs, Gary Ablett and Gryan Miers.

Veteran duo Harry Taylor and Zach Tuohy have also been named.

Among the eight players missing from last year’s team that lost the preliminary final are Brandan Parfitt, Jake Kolodjashnij (hip), Tim Kelly (West Coast), captain Joel Selwood (hamstring), Sam Menegola, Jack Henry, Luke Dahlhaus and Mark O’Connor.

Mitch Duncan (hip), who missed the defeat by Richmond due to a knee injury, also won’t play against the Suns and is racing the clock to be right for Round 1.

Also not considered were Jack Steven (calf) and Nathan Krueger (knee).
