At Selection – Round 8

May 9, 2019 6:25 pm in by

GEELONG will make at least one change to its team for Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium, with captain Joel Selwood to return after being a late withdrawal from the win over Essendon.

He replaces Zach Guthrie, who has been omitted.

Zach Tuohy, who was also a late withdrawal against the Bombers, Charlie Constable, James Parsons, and uncapped big man Darcy Fort have been named on an extended bench.

CATS: LATE CALL TO BE MADE ON DANGER

Coach Chris Scott says despite sitting a game clear on top of the ladder after seven rounds, Geelong still has plenty to work on.

“It’s impossible, in my view, to get a really accurate view of the form line around the competition,” he said.

“The Bulldogs were under all sorts of pressure and (were) beaten by Carlton two weeks ago, then they beat Richmond on the weekend.

“North are going terribly, Carlton beat the Bulldogs, then they kick one goal in a half (against North Melbourne).

“If you can work it out, you’re better than I am.

“So, what that means for us is; keep our feet on the ground; keep working on our game; don’t get too far ahead of ourselves; try to improve this week.

“We feel a little bit better about ourselves; there’s a little bit of validation for what we’re doing, but we understand if we take the foot off the gas we can be a pretty average side pretty quickly.”

CATS: FOGARTY AND BEWS TO RETURN VIA VFL

North Melbourne has added Luke Davies-Uniacke, Sam Durdin and potential debutants Curtis Taylor and Kyron Hayden to its extended bench.
